When: August 2 - 8, 2009
Where: The soundstage of
New Millennium Studios in Petersburg, Virginia
Conducted by: The Central Virginia Film Institute and New Millennium Studios
Who can apply? Anyone between the ages of 14 and 24 (as of the first day of Camp) interested in learning about film and Digital Video production. Over the past six years we have hosted students from Central Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Wisconsin, Ohio, Great Britain and Norway! Affordable accomodations will be provided for students at
La Villa Romaine bed and Breakfast.
Several of our students have gone on to be accepted at leading NY and CA film schools.
What you will learn: During the Camp you will be teamed up with 10-12 other student filmmakers, where you will each play a crucial role in developing and completing your team’s projects! Here your team will conceive, script, rehearse, shoot, edit, score, title, and premiere your works – all within a week! Selected projects will also be considered for submission to Student Film Competitions, and other film festivals!
And, when you graduate, you'll receive a copy of your project and additional "behind-the-scenes" material on DVD!
The Equipment: Unlike some other camps that charge up to triple our tuition, we provide the student filmmakers with professional Sony HDV cameras, real sound equipment (boom mikes and sound mixers), and access to Final Cut Pro and Avid editing software. This is the best way to "jump-start" your filmmaking training, especially when you have access to the country's only full-service independent movie studio.
Tuition: $595 per student (includes application fee, tuition, all production and instructional materials, and snacks and lunches)
